On November 4,1904, a group of South Slavic immigrants from the former country of Yugoslavia organized the "Benevolent Association of Slavs of America" in Fresno, California.  This group was organized to help one another, and to preserve the ethnic heritage of all Slavs.  Today, their foresight in such an organization survives some 118 years later in their descendants.
